New Features of Windows Server 2016
The Windows Server 2016 has numerous new features that the ES intends to fully maximize the use for purposes of optimal gain. Active Directory
The Active Directory (AD) is an extremely significant service as far as an organization’s information infrastructure is concerned. The organizational AD units will then be prepared as per location and organizational departments, which include the Executive, Human Resources, Finance, System Client Administration, Accounting, amongst others.
DNS and DHCP
DHCP in this arrangement will be functioning to simplify administration since allocating the network parameters for every department device will be unnecessary. Due to its dynamic nature, the client systems will be the ones utilizing the DHCP while other organization-based systems such as files and printers will be using the static IP addresses. The DHCP will also be configured to handle functions such as load balancing and fault tolerance for the servers located in Washington D.C, Atlanta, and New York, all of which will have failover load balancing mode configuration performed upon them. Also of importance and that which must be included in the development of three scopes of DHCP in all three locations. Washington, D.C will be assigned 156.90.55.0-156.90.55.150, thereby leaving substantial room for future expansion. The company’s design for DNS namespace will adopt ellianasolutions.com utilizing the internal private domain. Each location will have one DNS server unless there is a need to increase the number. Each of the three locations will adopt the following: wdc.ellianasolutions.com, at. ellianasolutions.com and ny. ellianasolutions.com.
Application Services
Group policy will apply while deploying all the applications in the company. Tools such as the AD administration will be of important use, especially when formulating group policies for the applications then proceeding to include the formulated group policies on each and every computer in all the domains in the organization’s three locations. We will use a department-based approach to assign the applications. It is the applications that users will mostly be interacting with. For the productivity of the organization to be at where is expected, the applications must be at their optimal state every time. Some of the basic applications that we can recommend include Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office Professional, and Mozilla Firefox. Others include Kaspersky for security, Adobe Flash Player, and Java, amongst others. Other non-basic applications that the departments will need may be installed later.
File and Printer Sharing
Enabling of print and file sharing will take place in all the three sites. The file and print servers available in the organization will be shared among the three locations with Washington D.C location taking a slightly higher number than the other two locations. In total, there will be a creation of six shares. Every department in the company is expected to own a share. Consequently, every share will be using NTFS permission, which will be used in restricting other departments from accessing files that specifically belong to a given department. Distributed file system domains will be utilized in sharing resources across the three locations. Management of printers will involve the use of a console. Elliana Printer has a total of 10 printers where each printer is located in every location. The printer drivers will be shared through servers so that the staff may not have to perform the installation by themselves. Again the group policy will be applied as per the location. An employee in any of the three locations will have to seek permission to access any of the ten printers in the company.
