The relationship between Poseidon and the Greek hero Odysseus was filled with hostility. Odysseus has blinded the son of Poseidon called Cyclops Polyphemus, who was a giant. Poseidon punished Odysseus by preventing him from finishing his voyage back home. Through this, it was difficult for Odysseus to reunite with his family. An example of how gods and goddesses viewed and punished human unfairly was Poseidon raping the mortal Medusa in the Athena temple. Athena punished Medusa for letting Poseidon rape her in the sacred temple by turning her hair into snakes. Another way was how Poseidon punished Phaeacians by sinking the ship. It is a fact enmity or war between gods and goddesses, for instance, Athena not punishing the god, Poseidon, for raping one of her servants. Conclusively,  good deed tends to have adverse consequences in that helping others can bring you harm. The Greek gods were unfair on the way they handle human. The difference with human nature is that good is rewarded, unlike the gods.

Hello Nancy, the relationship between Odysseus and his son Telemachus is very close as they refer to each other as ‘friend.’ It is vital to note the loyalty of Telemachus to his father.  Moreover, Odysseus is not perfect, but he remembers his family during his adventures. Great post, I agree that Greek gods were unfair in most of their punishment. The way Phaeacians were punished for helping Odysseus proves the unfairness in their judgment.
